Quick Response Team
Funny situation at work today...
A gentleman was asked to leave the building today, just down the hall from my office, as he was getting adjitated while talking to staff. One of our nurses walks over to the "Red Phone" (our interbuilding paging system) and calmly announces, "Code White, Level XX, [Unit Name]. Code White, Level XX, [Unit Name]"... repeats it three times.
For those who don't know Hospital codes, "Code White" indicates a violent patient or family member.
NO KIDDING... TWENTY PLUS PEOPLE SHOW UP WITHIN TWENTY SECONDS!!! Basically, every available body responded to the call. When the guy heard the page and clued in that it was because of him, he started to leave... and had to walk down the hallway lined with all the reinforcements, there to escort him out of the building!!!
I'm guessing he won't try pull a stunt like that again! (That is, of course, if he's even allowed into the building)
At least we know our emergency procedures work, and our staff is safe!
