Hint for Throne Speech... "Significant Tax Relief"

"There will be significant tax relief... significant." Those were Mr. Harper's words.

Second point off the GST? Income Splitting? Capital Gains Taxes? Income Tax reduction? What will it entail?

Interesting.

I would prefer to pay down the debt so we can afford more in the long run.

I think we need a mix of debt repayment and tax cuts.

Times are good, and we need to take advantage of those days to make a dent on the debt. I'd be OK with upping the planned debt repayment amount that's built into the federal budget from the current $3 Billion to about $10 Billion. That's like taking half of the current surplus and adding it to the debt, still leaving $7 Billion of overtaxation remaining.

We are an overtaxed people, and so we do need some healthy tax cuts. My preference is to allow income splitting.

I agree that we are over taxed (hence the “surplus”) but this is a great opportunity to pay down the debt. Lets kill it then or economy will be unstoppable, then we will be able to expand our programs…carefully (intentional spelling).
