Kelly O'Malley comments on P-117

Well, Mclean's blogger Kady O'Malley had this to say about Policy Resolution P-117: (her comment in bold and italicized)
Young Offender Rehab
PROPOSED BY GUELPH
iii) The Conservative Party believes the government should work with the provinces and territories, and interested employers to put in place a Youth Correctional Rehabilitation Program. The program will recognize that poverty is one of the major roots of crime and that stable employment can be the most effective solution to break the cycle of poverty. The program will offer youth a voluntary opportunity for rehabilitation in which life skills are taught, enabling them to successfully enter the workforce through participating employers.

ITQ: I don’t know what surprises me more – that this resolution will apparently make it to the floor, or that it didn’t come from a riding in Quebec.
I guess she'd be even more shocked to know it was authored by a supposedly "far right" blogger from Guelph!

This policy is, to my mind, simply a common sense idea. Those who are surprised to see such a resolution at the Convention simply reveal their ignorance of Conservatism.

Conservatism isn't "mean spirited" as some of the Oppositions parties, and the media, would have Canadians believe. I guess that's another reason why I'm so motivated to get this Resolution passed... not only because it's a good idea, but to break some of the stereotypes that the Opposition tries to perpetuate.

So if you're going to Winnipeg, plan on proving the media and the Opposition wrong by passing Resolution P-117!
