NOOOOO!!!! Monte Solberg to retire
Monte's bowing out after 15 years in the House of Commons. He was one of my favorite Cabinet Ministers, and won his seat in the last election by the biggest margin of any candidate in 2006... with 79.7% of the vote.
He was also one of my favorite bloggers, back before he entered Mr. Harper's cabinet. Had the pleasure of meeting him again just last week.
You'll be missed Monte.

Wow that is a shocker. He certainly is one of the most respected members of the Conservative caucus.

This'll be the last election for a while with a unified right-wing party...

I met him a couple of times. The second time he actually remembered my name.
He is such a nice guy. I feel so bad about this.

I never had any problem Monte, he seemed okay. The CPC could do a whole heck of a lot worse than Monte Solberg.
He's certainly a candidate I wouldn't boo ;)

This opens a spot for Ezra Levant. Mote is a cool guy, a Reformer. He'll be missed.
