Tories ad on CTV.ca

Now THAT's what I call smart politics... I clicked on the link to watch CTV's reporting on the most recent poll, and what ad do I see right before the clip? Bingo... our new Conservative ad. Nice move guys.

I was watching TV last night, and our ad was on one channel. A minute later, I hope over to Global, and there it is again. Then on the drive in this morning, on CFRB 1010 during the Bill Carrol show, was one of our radio spots. Now we're on CTV.ca.

Total market saturation, with a positive message, before the writ is even dropped. And the Liberals don't have a spare dime to counter.

UPDATE: It seems to be the only ad that's running on the CTV.ca clips right now... I've watched four clips, and seen the ad three times. There's also a Conservative ad photo in the cycle of ads displayed on the right side, next to the video clips.

It's might have the opposite effect. It's driving me nuts! Kind of like that song on the Olympic commercial.

And yet no amount of ads is likely to ever be able to convince me to vote for a government party with conservative values. :)

The Ad-buy was massive. I've seen the ad with the Riders Game on Sunday. I've seen it many times on the Food Network, CTV, Global, CBC, SLICE, and various other places.

I bet the writ drops when that ad stops airing.

In addition to my comment, it's a GREAT AD! Why couldn't we have more of this with our "Dion Suxxors" commercials?

It's an substantive ad meant to bolster the already converted - can you really see it changing anyone's mind?

I think it will do a couple things stageleft... yes, it will bolster the converted, but I think it will also influence some of the "leaners", who are considering voting Conservative, but have so far been somewhat wary of Harper.

It may also serve to demoralize some of the Liberal base... and will remind them that they have "Not a Leader" in charge, thus helping influence them to just stay home.

I have nothing against Harper. It's conservatism I'm against. I personally consider conservatism to be extremely dangerous to human freedom and well being.

I don't think you get it. I generally only vote NDP, but if there's an election and it looks like the Conservatives are doing well I suspect I'll be voting Liberal regardless of how good or bad Dion might actually be, and encouraging anyone else to as well. In the end, elections are always about the lesser of two or more evils, and since conservatism is one of the greatest evils in my view I'd vote for nearly anyone in order to keep conservatives out of power.

I just saw that I said "substantive" when I meant to say "unsubstantive" - I never was a very good typer.

I think you are being over optimistic about the ad CC, they look very contrived and Harper still does not look personable.

The converted are hailing the ad, the other partisans are mocking it, and the undecideds are going "ho-hum".

TCH, if you vote for the Liberals in Toronto, it won't make a difference... other than potentially de-electing an NDP MP, since we aren't likely competative in your riding.

That's the problem with "Strategic Voting", the unintended consequences... that's how we ended up with Bob Rae nearly running the province into the ground. (remember "Rae Days"?)

Well, if electing a Liberal MP over an NDP MP helps keep the Conservatives from getting a majority it's a win I suppose, but otherwise I guess you're right. :)

I was too young at the time to know much about "Rae Days."
