Loonie = $1.02US

Wow... the Looney hit that mark today, albeit briefly. At about 11:25am, the US Dollar was worth $0.9788CAN... which translates to (if I'm correct) our dollar being worth $1.02US.

Good news, at least for me, considering I'm headed south of the border tonight. ;-)

UPDATE: Just bought $100US for my trip... cost me $99.98CAN

I don't know, there's just something psychologically nice about it...

    What a silly, selfish view about it. The tourism business in Canada is bleeding because of it - the manufacturing is bleeding because of it.

    Ya, great, really great.

    You really are a toad.

    Anonymous, the tourism business was bleeding in Canada long before the dollar got to par. All I have heard in the last several years out of the GTA was how few American tourists there were.

    Let's see. Tourism took a majour hit whilst the Chrétien/ Martin regime and their petty politics of personal destruction and power at all cost promoted America bashing to an art form, the likes of, only seen in the heady Trudeau days.
    That idiot from Mississauga, Carolyn Parrish, and her sanctioned antics, and the recalcitrant Chrétien’s communications director Francoise Ducros with her "Bush is an idiot" curse.
    The Americans stayed home in droves as there is more to see and do in the US instead of being to made to look the fool here.
    Therefore, your specious argument about the high dollar is a straw man.
    The high dollar is good for us for a while, as we can modernize and buy other US companies to increase efficiency.
    Remember the NDP wrapping itself in the flag of convenience, a la Paul Martin when INCO and Falconbridge were sold.
    Now we can be the ones doing the buying.
    So stop being a silly selfish toad with your ill-conceived economics of the low dollar.
