Yea, the cartoon is rather inaccurate on that point... to me, it looks like he's been trying to fight with one of those inflatable "Thunder Sticks" from the Liberal convention... ;-)
(though they do make a cool sound when you hit someone over the head with one... almost like an echoing "ping" sound)
