Sponsorship LIVES

The Liberals would like us to think that the Sponsonship Scandal is old news... RIGHT...

RCMP investigators conducted a search Wednesday at the Montreal-area home of former Liberal organizer Jacques Corriveau, a witness at the inquiry into the federal sponsorship scandal.

Investigators entered Corriveau's house in the South Shore town of St-Bruno-de-Montarville looking for papers and digital data, said spokesman Cpl. Sylvain l'Heureux.

"They’re looking mainly at finding certain documents, computers and data," he told CBC News.

"It's a search conducted in the course of our investigation, but there are no arrests planned for today."

Corriveau was one of several Liberal insiders called to testify at the 2004-2005 Gomery Commission.

Here I thought this was going to be a post decrying how quickly the Tories re-introduced the sponsorship program as soon as they were in power (LINK and galling LINK).

Of course, that's just a $30 million/year boondoggle, so Oda had to make up the extra $20 million to match the Liberals' old program (which she did!). (I particularly like how Oda accused the opposition of making up numbers and intentionally misleading the public, which lasted exactly as long as it took someone at her own departmental paperwork - WITH HER OWN SIGNATURE! - which showed the opposition was right and, it would seem, SHE was intentionally misleading the public).

It's not surprising that there are still revelations coming out of the Liberals' sponsorship program, and that investigations (thankfully) continue. With the Liberals out of power though, I'm currently more concerned that the Tories (who are in power) are doing basically the exact same thing they used to scream about the Liberals doing.

    The more things change...

    Oh my Flying Spaghetti Monster!!!

    Snap!!!

I guess bringing up the sponsorship scandal is going to stop, now that it's becoming politically dangerous and somewhat hypocritical given the Cons' actions.

Bev Oda isn't handing taxpayer monies out in brown envelopes to MP's for their election campaigns - nor is she creating fake companies for the government to bill to so insiders can take their cut and kickbacks.
'When the Liberals were in power, Angus said the breakdown of statistics showed that 79 per cent of funding for the program went into Liberal-held ridings and 57 per cent went into Quebec.'

Yes, the sponsorship scandal is alive and well - Canadians are still waiting to get back the rest of the money the Liberals "delivered" to Quebec and to their friends.

This isn't new - it's old. The investigations are continuing, but the scandal is OLD. 12 years old in fact.

    Enough already.

Gee, you're so Christian that you relish in this type of stuff - shame on you!

And everything old will be new again. Amazing isn't it - 12 years and still going - gee, there must be more there than we originally thought! I don't care if it takes another 12 years - Canadians have a right to know where their tax dollars went!!

As a Christian, I don't want to see a party in power who continually put forward policies that are contrary to Godly morals. So, you're right... I do enjoy it when I see them faltering, because that often means their chances of forming government again are reduced.

Is the CPC the best bunch around? No, all are guilty of their own transgressions. However, their underlying philosopy is much more consistant, in my view, with Biblical values.

Remind me how repeatedly lying is consistent with Biblical values. Still waiting for an answer (see comments under your NDP slogans post).
