CBC's Heather Mallick calling for an Opposition coalition

I guess Heather Mallik's ignorance of Canada shows what happens when you spend to many years out of the country...

Hey Heather, Canadians pretty clearly rejected the very idea of a left-wing coalition back in December of 2008, back when the CPC was polling around, oh what was it, about 41%? Oh, right, you weren't here for that... my bad.

You've got to LOVE this left-wing drivil from her poisioned pen...
Canada has a Conservative minority government right now that does have a core belief. It's that Canadians deserve a good stomping, all of them. Conservatives can't stand people, particularly if they're female, or second-generation Canadian, or educated, or principled, or not from Alberta, which is the home of the hard-right belly-bulging middle-aged Tory male. Watch them at the G8, ostensibly fighting for women's health internationally while blocking abortions for raped Congolese.

Harper cannot get a real majority. If the centre-right Liberals and the centre-left New Democrats would form a coalition, Harper would be toast and we'd get started on what we need: national day care, TGV trains, an economic strategy, a green strategy, oh a strategy for anything, a plan is all we seek.

Instead we hang.
Sound familiar? Yep, that pretty much sounds like the "culture war" strategy that the CBC is employing on behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada... as recommended by Frank Graves. No wonder she's still working for the CBC.

UPDATE: Finally settled on my new name for her... "Hate'n Malice", cause that seems to be all that ever comes out of her mouth. Her mouth, and pretty much every mouthpiece of the Left, whenever they're talking about anyone who disagrees with their ideology.

It seems her statements are little more that ad hominem attacks with little, opps, I mean no actual facts cited. Attack politics at its worst.

Ignorance of how the Canadian system works. Just like Iffy.

She has long since proven to be a narrow minded ignoramous. I am not sure if she can do math or if she really does not understand how parliament works.

You're right about the "culture war" thing.

But at the same time, it could also be described as the "same old same old".

We need to encourage the Toronto media to give her more face time.
That face of hers and her toxic attitude would surely drive millions and millions of Canadians to the Conservatives.

Nothing is stopping the LibDippers running on a coalition government platform next election.
It's pretty much a given, eh.

Iffy gave Jack the nod on no corp tax cuts, a sticking point last time.
The LibDippers will not be foolish and talk up their carbon tax, nor the GST increase needed to pay for Olivia's national daycare and jack and Gilles EI 360.

But Jack may position himself as the king maker,
wanting to 'make parliament work' with 'who ever wins' the most seats.
Who knows, but years of Dippers attaching themselves to the Liberal rump has them in the #4 spot, permanently.

Liberals assume Jack would rather be a Liberal side kick then a thorn in the Conservative neck.
    I think they are wrong.

Why does Mallick use all the fancy titles like day care and Green strategy, why not just say Communism and bankruptcy?
Mallick has all the sense of a week dead salmon.

Canadians only "reject" something at an election. A poll is nothing more than a snapshot.

Don't discourage Ms Mallick - as long as CBC, Frank Graves and other select MSM advocate for the Coalition - the advantage is for the Conservatives. When they concentrate their efforts on this "big picture" strategy, they spend less time on policy and a vision of Canada that might win the electorate. Cheers. Fern StAlbert

So if you are not willing to foot the bill for foreign abortions, you are against it. By the same logic, I'm against my next door neighbour taking a vacation. Dead set against it, because I am not willing to pay for his vacation.

As for the TGV train, it's a great idea. Have it service the Windor to Montreal corridor. And have it paid for by those who use it, not by the rest of us. But as a side note, that won't happen because (a) not enough people actually want it bad enough to pay full price for a ticket, and (b) you are not going to have a lot of success driving a train at 300 km/h in a Canadian winter.

Why do I feel that so many people on the Left are morons?

She and Murray Dobbin. Neither of them learn. I think neither of them can learn.

They're either convinced that Canadians have no will of their own worth respecting, or that Canadians simply don't know their own will.

They're both wrong, and they both deserve to have their irrelevance demonstrated.

Mallick's hilarious comments are not even worth a thought. Better not to give her more attention than she deserves.

On an off topic note: you might want to watch the May 6, 2010 question period on the CPAC website. Gilles Duceppe blasts the Conservative cuts to pro-abortion feminist groups by ridiculing and mocking Christians. It's shameful. I'm proud that Diane Ablonczy made a point of order and called Duceppe out on those comments, calling his words "bigoted" and against Charter freedoms. Ablonczy really deserves a good promotion in Cabinet for being generally very competent.

hehehe I really hope they listen to miss malice.

A 2 party system means we win. Make sure everyone know what the choices are next time around. I think part of the outrage at the coalition was it wasn't what voters had bargained for. If they had know what was in the works, it would have been a Conservative Majority.

    Now they know.

At least her work seems harder and harder to find on the CBC these days. I don't care what she writes or believes, I just get pissed off when our tax dollars pay for it.

If she wants to write for a British newspaper, that's fantastic! At least it isn't a Canadian newspaper.

Anon@9:13... either you were trying to humously paraphrase Mallice, or you've simply reaffirmed my allegation of the "Left's" virulant hatred of anyone that disagrees with them.

    Either way, thanks.

Just remember, folks: while you folks can jump on Mallick whenever she says something truly outstandingly garish, some of us have maintained a full-time vigil.
