Gloria Galloway Watch IX

Been a LONG time since I posted anything about Globe reporter Gloria Galloway. I recall a while back, it seemed that every story she wrote had a strong anti-Conservative bias to them. Well, it seems that chip has finally fallen off her shoulder, because I've come across an article by her today that is a great example of "telling it like it is"... as opposed to "spinning it like it ain't".

I suppose it could just be that with the Liberals doing as horribly as they are, there's just no way she can spin things in their favour without losing all journalistic credibility whatsoever!

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff did much complaining about prorogation, but Canadians seem to like his party better when it is not in the House of Commons.

Conventional wisdom says sitting governments – Stephen Harper’s Conservatives in this case – lose ground when Parliament is sitting and the opposition has a daily chance to rip verbal holes through their policies. But Mr. Ignatieff has been turning conventional wisdom on its head.

Been a while since I did an update, so I thought I'd throw in my two cents on Gloria's coverage of the Chuck Cadman bribe accusations, in the Globe & Mail, and on CTV Newsnet.

I think she actually reported things very well... fairly, accurately, and in a balanced manner. With a story that could obviously be very explosive, I think she covered it just like a reporter should... well.

Gloria strikes again!

A big story happens about a 19+ year veteran Liberal MP, a guy who was recruited by John Turner, and the second floor crosser to have served in Paul Martin's Cabinet, joining Stephen Harper's Conservative Party, and how does Gloria headline it?

"Liberal dissident denies Harper bought his loyalty". Come on Gloria... taking a biased pot-shot at Mr. Harper, instead of covering the news... how about "Veteran Liberal MP Joins Tories", or "Longtime Liberal Turfed by Dion Joins Tories", or "Harper wins another disillusioned Liberal MP", or "Liberal recruited by John Turner joins Conservatives".

Nope... you had to take the low road. Instead of just reporting the news, you had to score a blow against the Conservatives. Well, you scored alright... another point on the "Gloria Watch" scoreboard...

Another story by Gloria... this one, about the so-called "Tory Playbook". Although the subject matter makes the story decidedly negative towards the Tories, it's not to bad in terms of balance.
