Iggy's Narnian Forest, questions still unanswered
The Liberals are finally reacting to all the buzz about Iggy's ads being "green screened", with just the following statement... "The forest is real".
Well, of COURSE the forest is real guys, no one ever denied that... the initial question asking if his footage was filmed in front of a green screen, however, still remains unanswered... to repeat the question, was Iggy EVER ACTUALLY THERE IN THE FOREST?
Notice the subtlety the Liberals are using in their statements? "It's a real forest, that's all I can tell you", according to Ian Davey. Again, Ralph Goodale responded to a similar question with, "It's a real forest". Which again does not address the original questions about the green screening... yes it's footage of a real forest, but was he really IN the forest when the forest scenes were shot?
Of course, the other speculation is that he's actually sitting on a comfortable stool at the edge of some ritzy backyard in Rosedale... but that's another theory.

"Of course it's a real forest" it's just as real as Mr Ignatieff.
Cheers Bubba

Out of curiosity, how in the world is this an issue?

LOL. This is how you nail Iggy. Ask him a SIMPLE question.
Peter Mansbridge made Iggy look bad, a few months ago, when Iggy was going on about Harper never calling him. Then Mansbridge asked if HE had ever tried to contact Harper. Iggy dodged that question twice, at which point Mansbridge said "I'll take that as a no ..."
For some stupid reason, the Libs must think that if it got out the "forest" was just a backdrop screen, or whatever, their opponents would use it against them. Well duh, now that they are AVOIDING a simple question, their opponents will torque it up even MORE.

No one ever denied it was a real forest?
Does that mean that Narnia is real?
(I've been hoping all of these years).
Also: does the backdrop to a cheesy TV commercial matter at all? Was there music in the background? Is it an issue if it was a tape/CD/record and not a live orchestra?
Perhaps "questions [are] still unanswered".
But what does it say if that's the sort of question being asked in the first place?

It shouldn't really be an issue at all, except it's become one because it's exposed something deeper... the fact that the Liberals are refusing to answer not only this question, but even the MAJOR questions they're getting asked. It's just ANOTHER example of what seems to be an ongoing problem, an aversion to the TRUTH.
For example, reporters keep asking Iggy about the coalition, specifically what he'd do if Harper won another minority... and he's steadfastly refused to answer the question. Why is that?
This issue with the ad would have died long ago, had the Liberals just answered the question. A simple "Yea, we filmed the spot last week while we were back in Toronto... yes, it was a live shoot, no greenscreen" and BINGO, issue's dead.
The fact that they HAVEN'T done that, like they've avoided all the other tough questions regarding coalitions in the event of a Harper minority, call into question their credibility.
That and the fact that this all started after Andrew Coyne said it looked like Iggy was in Narnia... when the MSM starts mocking you, you know you're in serious trouble.

The only reason this is even an issue is because Liberals refuse to be up front and honest about the simplest of all things. Is Mr. Ignatieff sitting in a real forest, and where, or is it photo-shopped in from some video archive business? I think what has them worried is that it was a purchased shot and they either have no idea exactly where it is or, worse, they do know and it is from Mr. Ignatieff's home state!

THIS is the best you can do? Manufacture a crisis over a green screen? I guess it's a way to divert attention from your coalition with the separatists...

LOL Marc, nice try with the talking points... when in reality, they're just putting their rubber stamp on OUR agenda.
You see, unlike you Liberals, we haven't offered to modify our agenda to suit them. They're simply supporting what we've already put forward because it's good for Canada.
Unlike Iggy, who'd be bending over backwards with left-wing ideology to keep his coalition alive. See the difference?
Oh, my mistake... of course you don't.

You're right, I can't expect you to understand how parliamentary democracy works.

Does it really matter? When Dion put together that horrible video from his office everyone lambasted him...I think it would be more productive to critique the content of the ad, as opposed to the type of backdrop used.
By the way....
I've started a web aggregator called "Canada's Best Political Blogs" and I've added Christian Conservative to the roll.
I've included blogs from all political stripes, with the criteria being that they're well written...and your's definitely fits the bill.
