Liberal Irony for you
Wow, I'll bet the irony of this press release never even occured to them... "Conservatives Ignoring Struggling Manufacturing Sector: Dion".
Riiiiiight... now, remind me, who was is that wanted to implement Kyoto according to the original timelines? You know, the agreement that would scuttle our auto and manufacturing sectors in one fell swoop?
Let's see what Buzz has to say on the topic...
Didn't think so.

Let's see what Buzz has to say on the topic...
Buzz Hargrove, president of the Canadian Autoworkers Workers, does not expect any government to try to implement Kyoto according to current deadlines. Now, tell me again, who's ignoring the manufacturing sector? Will the Liberal leader finally admit that the original Kyoto timelines are a farce, and that they are impossible for Canada to meet?
"It would be devastating for the whole community, anybody that signed on," he said. "It's not even a remote possibility. No prime minister in any one of the parties in the House of Commons is going to bring in any kind of regulation that says we have to do that. It would be suicidal for our economy.
"If somebody were to come out tomorrow and say you have to reach the objective that was laid out initially immediately you'd almost have to shut down every major industry in the country from oil and gas to the airlines to the auto industry and that just doesn't make sense."
Didn't think so.

And yet the opposition pushed the whole thing into a farce of a law.

And the point of your anti-faith comment is what, precisely?

Two things:
1. Since when is Buzz Hargrove your oracle on the health of the manufacturing sector? You just raked him over the coals for killing the auto industry about a week ago. Also, if he is your new oracle on these matters, you may want to take note that in the last election he was touring around with Martin, and saying that Canadians should vote for anyone other than the Conservatives.
2. I thought that we had agreed on how intellectually lazy the "not a leader" refrain is. Why do you keep posting using that label?

Dion obviously thinks he's scoring political points with these kinds of demands. Same thing when he calls on Harper to respect the Atlantic Accord, bring back Universal Child Care, and of course implement Kyoto.
But here's his problem. There's a good chance that Harper's government will fall on a non-confidence vote over a budget. I would put my money on the 2009 budget. That makes the defeated budget the most important ballot question.
Which means that Dion will have to put a specific LPC budget on the table, so that voters will have a point of comparison. Obviously, if Dion includes all these "promises" of his, then his budget will be hugely in deficit. And if he doesn't include these promises, then of course Harper (and Layton), will throw them back in his face.
Anyway, Dion's day of reckoning will come eventually. For now, he can get away with promising the moon and the stars. The guy is clearly not a long-term strategist.

Like I said last time, because I believe it.
And I also use it because it's fun. ;-)
