Global Kyoto Agency?

This is a frightening thought...A new international body, with powers to police the world?
Support shown for new global environment agency

PARIS -- Fear of runaway global warming pushed 46 countries to line up Saturday behind France's bid for a new environmental body that could single out - and perhaps police - nations that abuse the Earth.
Are you ready to hand over sovereign control of our nation to another world body?

I'm not.

I just knew that sooner or later the "french fry police" would be after us.

Joy, another bureaucratic agency to make us all feel better about ourselves... after scaring us half to death and demanding more money for its upkeep, of course.

This is insanity of the highest order. Another corrupt UN effort to police the world. It is up to the people of each country to pressure their politicians to fix their own environment. If this happens the environmental issue will be solved. We don't need some bureaucrat telling us what and how to do it. Canada is a sovereign country and can decide where it wants to place its emphasis. The UN should get stuffed.

It is about time we get a one-world government going, maybe this could be the first step.

Sorry, drew, but I'm going to have to respecfully disagree with you, particularly if the UN has anything to do with it. Don't you remember the "oil for food" scandal?

I didn't say anything about the UN. I'm not talking about some ineffectual commitee like the UN overseeing countries, I think we should disband all countries and states/provinces altogether and have two levels of government: a Federal government that overseas the whole world with Municipal governments overseeing individual smaller regions like cities and counties.

I didn't say you were saying. I simply said particularly if the UN had anything to do with it. But, unless democracy becomes a lot more widespread than it is, and unless human nature takes a considerable turn for the better (which would take a whole lot more faith than I have), I can't see any world government being significantly different from the UN with respect to corruption.

Any government is only as good its constitution and the people running it, be it the government of a city, a province, a country or a planet.

On this, I completely agree with you.
