And for the record, I was NOT one of the ones screaming at Belinda's floor crossing... I was ticked at her, but she had every right to do so. Floor crossing is an integral part of our system, and I feel 100% that it SHOULD NOT be banned.

Martha Hall Findlay? You think that Mississauga- Streetsville voters would so easily vote in a Caucasian parachute candidate from Newmarket, over a local who is South Asian? Remember, in the 2006 vote, both the Liberal (Khan) and Conservative candidates were South Asian and the margin of victory was not huge (~11%), so this says to me that partisanship in this riding is not that solid.
As noted over on Political Staples, Wajid Khan isn't just another MP... he was well known far prior to his becoming involved in politics...

Belinda was a different issue. She crossed the floor to directly affect a confidence motion in the HOC, and for a cabinet position, and for increase in pay, and for a car and driver. What Belinda did was highly unethical and a big difference from a backbench to backbench crossover, or even cab. min. to cab. min. (Emerson)
