CPC Convention '11 - Ottawa

"A Strong, Stable, National, Conservative Majority Government... I still love saying that." The Right Hon. Prime Minister Stephen J. Harper

Listening to the PM right now, giving his Convention speech. My "Live Blog" report...

It's a happy night indeed, and it's a proud "Thank You" speech to EVERYONE who had a hand in May 2nd's victory... And a "Standing O" for all the volunteers who worked so hard for the last nearly decade to get us to where we are today... like Mr. Harper just said again, "A Strong, Stable, National, Conservative Majority Government".

"My friends, we are moving Canada in a Conservative direction... And Canadians are moving with us." HEAR! HEAR!

"Today, we have the LOWEST Federal tax burden since John Diefenbaker." LOUD CHEERS

Protecting Canadians instead of the rights of criminals... APPLAUSE

Passing our Tough on Crime agenda within 100 days... LOUD CHEERS

"We will put forward legislation to scrap the Long Gun Registry"... LOUDEST CHEER OF THE NIGHT, and a Standing "O" for good measure

No more appeasing Dictators with our votes in the UN... another LOUD CHEER, maybe louder than the Long Gun one, and another Standing "O"

Scrapping Per Vote Subsidy gets another cheer.

"We are a united Party... Not a Party of Entitlement"

"We know that we serve at the pleasure of the Canadian people... and that belief is at the core of who we are as Conservatives."

"Friends, the honeymoon with the NDP will pass... In fact, I don't think any honeymoon could end faster than one with the NDP."

"We didn't come here to do politics... Our Party has been called to a great purpose... To bear a bigger load..." To be a LEADER in the world."

"God Bless you, and God Bless Canada!"

And with that, the PM wrapped things up. A GREAT speech, one that I think sets a great and positive tone for the years of Governing that are to come. It's gonna be a GREAT RIDE!!!

Well, except for the occasional misuse of government jets. Something Dear Leader used to rant about. I guess you can stroke honesty off the list.

So the U.S. is scaling back their drug laws because they don't work and cost a fortune to enforce. In short, their drug war has been a colossal failure. Meanwhile Harper is going full steam ahead here implementing the same tough U.S. style laws. I think Harper is a good at politicking, but is pretty much a mental midget otherwise.

    "Liberal values are Canadian values".

    - Paul Martin, 2005.

He was raked over the coals for that arrogance.

    Whereas we believe the transverse...

    "Canadian values are Conservative values."

We don't force our values on Canadians... our values REFLECT the values of Canadians. Therein lies the difference.
