OH SNAP! It's the Iggy Shrug!!!
From the "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!" file... looks like Iffy's metamorphasis into "Dion II" is now complete!
This unbelievable photo, capturing for the history books the final moment of the transformation process, was snapped at a press conference where Iffy was announcing that he's in support of the Tories HST implementation bill... whereas in true Dion-ian fashion, he was previously against it. (or at least MAY have been against it... we're not quite sure, as he was somewhat "Iffy" and "Dithered" on this issue too...)

You'd have to ask the photographer...

For it to be called a "shrug", shouldn't he actually have to, um, shrug???
You know, raise his shoulders, maybe dip his head... some kind of motion or posture that at least differenciates it from, well, every other time he stands up?
I know Conservatives prefer to attack and "frame" their opponent rather than stand on their "record", but this is a rather bizarre obsession with "framing" I have to say.

It might not be a shrug in the classic sense as more of a hapless "well waddya want fer nothin.." pose.

Kudos to the photographer, unfortunately the attempt to make him appear powerful (larger, taller) fails when his hands and face reveal defeated.

Didn't you have an "iggy shrug" picture from a few weeks ago? If I recall correctly, it was much more shrug-like than.
That said... I don't understand you're apparent interest in shrugs. Surely it isn't hard to find pictures of anyone making similar gestures? A recent Rick Mercer "photo challenge" had Tony Clement in a similar situation.

Even Harper, surely, has his own version of the shrug. I call this the "look ma, no hands" shrug:

I would think that picking a particular 'moment frozen in time' and trying to make a partisan political argument (i.e., vote for my guy, not this guy) is... illegitimate.
As illegitimate as this photo:

The mustache is doctored, though I don't believe the arm-hand position is.
Or do you remember this outfit?

Was that photo doctored? That isn't the best example out there. It looks like a scanned copy of a newspaper...
But I digress.
All I'm really saying is... on a scale of 1-10, how much should the shrug, or any weird looking pose, matter to the electorate?
I'd say a 2 or 3 at most.

I will.
I do!
That's why on the scale of 1-10, I give it an importance of 2 or 3 (instead of 1 or 0).
