Looks like "Caledonia II" has begun
Thanks to the lack of action by the OPP and the Provinical government, we now have a second Caledonia-like situation arising in the once great Province of Ontario. Anyone recognize where this photo is from?
Hint, it's a trick question. You see, this makeshift "guard tower" isn't in Caledonia, it's right on the doorstep of the GTA, on the outskirts of the City of Guelph.
Environmental (emphasis on the "mental") "actvists", (or as defined in this case by the laws of the Province of Ontario, the "trespassers") have occupied a parcel of land that the City was developing for a badly needed industrial park. They have refused to heed a notice of trespass, and have set up an encampment, trenches, roadblocks, and a watchtower. Thus far, the City has not asked the police to evict the trespassers, and the protesters are vowing to remain on the land until the multi-million dollar development is officially cancelled.
Of course, these "act-out-ivists" know that the folks who are supposed to be "in charge" don't have the guts to actually take charge of the situation... a direct result of the lawless fiasco down in Caledonia.
Mark my words, this isn't the last of these... every special interest group in the Province now knows that to get their voices heard, all they have to do is break the law.
UPDATE: Just in case anyone's been fooled by their claims, here's some of the lyrics used in a video posted by the protesters... it falls outside of the normal standards of what I post here on my blog, but I think it's important to expose these lunatics for who exactly they really are...
This is Turtle Island, don't you ever forget
Respect Mother Earth, don't settle for less.
This ain't Canada, This is Turtle Island man
F*** the Maple Leaf, I'll never fly the f***ing flag again
That's right folks... these people HATE Canada. They HATE this great nation of ours. I think it's up to us to make sure we send them a STRONG message...
FROM FAR AND WIDE

Mayor David Miller of Toronto will be able to negotiate a peaceful settlement. He's really good at negotiations.

These protesters are whites, they better be careful, not as many special rules protect white environmentalists.....

You've got some real quality Christian sentiments being expressed here, CC.

What's wrong with honouring those in authority (which they're not), or forgiveness (which I'm more than willing to extend to them, but which they are not willing to extend to the "white man"), or honesty (which they've not shown in the slightest)?
You're right, there's a fair bit of annoyance in my post, but it's not directed solely at these protesters... it's also directed at those in authority who should have stepped in a LONG time ago to prevent this sort of thing.
Our Province, even our Country, is losing their moral authority to govern... PERIOD. We're slipping into anarchy, and no one seems to even notice. Our laws are becoming unenforceable, not because they're bad laws, but because we have a police force that is unwilling and unable to actually enforce our laws... and it's not their fault, it's the fault of their political masters who are keeping them not on a leash, but caged up all the time.

Anon on Aug. 1 @ 3:18pm, one more thing... what would you suggest as a reasonable reaction to a declaration of war on our great nation? Because that's what this is, make no mistake... just because most Canadians haven't clued into that fact doesn't mean it's not true.
This group that is protesting in Guelph is advocating that the land be returned to the native populations who were here centuries ago. Do you agree or disagree with their position?

A response to your posts, CC
In the first, the petulant and mean-spirited language you employ in this post doesn't serve any purpose at all. It is low and thoughtless, and you should put more thought into your word choice.
In the second, one of the most famous law-breakers in history serves as the model for the Christian religion. He stood up to an unresponsive and out-of-touch government, He was not afraid to step outside of the law when the situation required it, and He had no use for entrenched "because I say so"-style authority.
St. Paul said that the fruit of the Spirit is "is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Your use of phrases like "I think it's up to us to make sure we send them a STRONG message..." with its coy suggestion of police violence, echoes the sentiments of the Scribes and Pharisees, not Christian Spirit.
In the third, one of your commenters proposed burning a protesters alive, and it was my remarks that have upset you?

I don't profess to be a Christan . I'm whats know as a common sense person ,white ,born in Ontario and belive that all leagal citizens should all be treated as equals under the prevailing laws of the Province and Canada .
Julian Fantino's only interest is Julian Fantino . I admired him as the Chief in Toronto but I have come to dispise him for his abuse of the law as the OPP Comissioner.
How is it an aboriginal can walk about in public brandising a weapon and if I get caught doing 50 Kms over the posted speed limit one of his Jack boot boys can ( Without a trial or judge ) impound my automobile.
Lets get McGinty and Fantino out of her along with the OH so green he makes you puke Mayor Miller and put some people in charge who will uphold proper laws and strike down the stupid laws .

"Turtle Island"
Racism, my friend, in any form, is shameful. Two wrongs don't make a right, so your racism against "the White Man" is just as bad as the racism you claim to be fighting.
For the record, I oppose lawlessness... NOT your cause, at least not entirely. But I'm a homeowner in "disputed territory". Are you saying that I should be forced to give up what I've paid fo just because there was some disagreement over a piece of paper that occurred LONG before I was born?
All I'm saying is that you're making more enemies than you are friends with your current tactics.
