When a photo op is just a photo op

So Warren posted a photo in an effort to smear Minister Kennedy today, and got a digital tongue lashing from Maclean's Kady O'Malley for his efforts. (at least I'm assuming he's who she's refering too).

Sometimes, a photo op is just that... a photo op. I'd like to take this opportunity to post a few examples...

Exhibit A - A friend posing with a former Cabinet Minister (oops... how'd that anti-Dion shirt get past the guards and into that shot?):

Exhibit B - Me posing with the Ontario Provincial Green Party Leader:
FULL DISCLOSURE: I had a chance a few weeks ago to snag a shot with Federal Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, as it was just her and I in the hallway for a moment... but I kept walking instead)

Exhibit C - Me posting with a Federal Opposition Party Leader (with whom I share little ideologically, other than the fact that we actually hold ideological positions, unlike our Liberal "friends"):
(a co-worker saw this photo the other day, as I have it posted above my desk, along with one of my pics with the PM... her comment was, "I see someone has been cutting and pasting photos!" Pretty much floored her when I told her that no, in fact, those were original photographs)

Exhibit D - Some unnamed blogger posing with a former Canadian Prime Minister and his wife, alongside a philandering and nearly impeached former President of the United States:
(only copy of the photo I could snag online was one that was a PhotoShopped one from a conservative blog with captions that I didn't want to post here...)

See where I'm going with this? Sometimes, a photo is just a photo. Posting the "embarrassing" photo was a bit of a stretch, and I'm sure it will come right back at them... as the article linked to by Kady points out (an article she also decries, it should be noted), the ON PC "President" in question was a former Liberal supporter. Here's hoping he didn't manage to snag a similar photo of himself with a certain Premier of Ontario at a local event, eh?

I think the point of the photo on Kinsella's site was to prove that Patrick Brown is a scoundrel, among other things.

Five men gang rape a woman. Two them turn out to be on the executive of the riding association of a Conservative MP. One of them is in fact the Conservative MPs president. Big deal. It is not relevant to what these despicable men did.

But what does Brown do? He runs to the media to tell them these were Liberal moles who infiltrated his riding association.

Despicable filth, that is what Brown is. What did Kinsella do? Countered Brown's filth.

Catsmeat is at it again trying to slime JASON KENNEY (not Kennedy)
    See:

JASON KENNEY: ALWAYS READY TO POSE WITH HIS FRIENDS
And here's one Bowie has unearthed, wherein Reformatory nobody Patrick Brown, who has today attempted to slime members of the McGuinty and Ignatieff caucuses. Oh, and who is that pictured with Jason?

Oh, yes, it's Patrick's FB buddy, Sarfraz Warraich.
    ====
It seems that Sarfraz Warraich, old Liberal hack signed up with PC Party, got elected as president of Barrie riding association and the first thing he did after he got elected was that he participated in a gang rape.
    It is no small wonder that catsmeat is all worried, just read this;

Tories charged with rape are actually Liberals: Barrie MP
    POLITICS
Posted By RAYMOND BOWE, SUN MEDIA

Conservative Barrie MP Patrick Brown says a sex scandal that has rocked the Barrie PC provincial riding association is also tainting Aileen Carroll's Liberals.

"This episode will hurt the Liberals more than any other party," said Brown, who called Sun Media yesterday about what he termed unfair media reports.

"This is a Liberal takeover that has left a blemish on the PC name," he added. "They've been beat up badly -- it's not fair, it's not just and it's not an accurate reflection of the situation."

Barrie PC riding association president Sarfraz Warraich, 42, of Barrie, has been charged with gang sexual assault and attempting to obstruct justice...
"Mr. Warraich was one of many volunteers for me in the last provincial election," Carroll, Barrie's Liberal MPP, told Sun Media, adding he was involved with placing signs around the city, but was not involved in her previous federal campaigns.

"I'm not sure where all of this (political finger-pointing) is going," she added.

A second riding association board member, 43-year-old Barrie resident Arif Mehmood, has also been charged with gang sexual assault.

Three other men not linked to the riding association have also been charged with gang sexual assault following an alleged incident that happened in late April...

"No one has even asked Aileen about her friendship with Sarfraz," Brown said.

Carroll said she spoke to Warraich "not long ago." She couldn't recall the exact time, but did say it was before the charges were reported.

She heard through Warraich's colleagues that he had defected to the Barrie PCs, but Carroll did not know the reason behind the move.

Warraich was elected riding association president April 28.

    Continuation of the post above.

The Liberal MPP did not want to comment on the charges against Warraich.

"That's all in front of the courts," she said.

Brown called Sun Media yesterday afternoon to stress that both Warraich and Mehmood are former Liberal supporters. He said he's "disappointed" that Warraich's role as a "political activist" for the Liberals for almost 10 years has not been properly reported, even though the Barrie man's former Liberal involvement was reported in Saturday's newspaper.

The Liberals have never denied that Warraich was a Liberal supporter.

"He was one of many volunteers, that's true, but past tense," said Lynda Murtha, Carroll's media liaison.

However, Warraich left the Liberals to join the local Tories, she added, although no reason was given.

"There's no formal process, if you will," Murtha said. "Sometimes you just lose people."

Carroll could not recall Mehmood's involvement with the party -- "I can't put a face on him," she said.

But Brown says both Warraich and Mehmood were instrumental in bringing down his uncle in the October 2007 provincial election.

"These guys worked to defeat Joe Tascona," Brown said, including scrutineering and driving people to the polls. "They were even at Aileen's victory party."

Carroll won that October 2007 election over Tascona by a slim margin of 1,381 votes, while Brown said Warraich boasted about bringing some 1,200 votes over to the Carroll camp.

"These guys are hurting the Tories again," Brown said..
