Garth... THEN and NOW

Garth Turner put up a blog post today, where he clearly is accusing the Halton Conservative volunteers of criminal activity... though he tries to cover himself by using sarcastic comments about "the wind".

Amazing coincidences

Well, I guess the wars have started. The Halton Con candidate’s signs finally started to go up yesterday, about the same time ours went down. Amazing how the wind blows so much harder on red stuff.
Meanwhile, let's flip on back to December of 2005, shall we?
Day 21

Canadian Politics, Conservative Party, Election 2006

Of course, as I have mentioned here before, it has been Conservative signs which have been laying down their plastic hearts and souls for the cause since this campaign began. We have seen the shoulders and intersections of major arterial roads picked clean of the blue placards in a single evening – leaving those red things waving in their place. Our signs have been sliced and diced, suffered broken and splintered wooden limbs, and been knocked into ditches where they were then buried alive by passing snowplows.

But, here's a Liberal strategy for you: Blow up the opposition's expensive signs, then complain to the media that the Blue Machine is playing unfair.
So, let's see... before, when he was a Tory, he said the Liberals had a "sign wreaking crew". But now that he's a Liberal, he's implying the "crew" is on the other side!

Which is it Garth? Then again, I have another theory... ever hear of the term "PARANOIA", Mr. Turner?

Or who knows, maybe it's justified... maybe everybody IS really out to get you, Garth.

Not really anything to laugh about. It looks like someone is actually stalking Mr. Turner.

    To quote Johnny Fever,

" When everyone is out to get you, parania is just good thinking".

I've twice posted on Garth's blog that I too was amazed that this happens to his signs no matter which party he runs for and twice my posting has been deleted. I captured his posting and comments showing it was there briefly.

Notice he always follows this whine up with a plea for donations.

I've been ignored by the GT as well. I told him it's because he hammers his signs in badly.

Garth aside, it's happening to ALL Liberal signs. And it happens not when the NDP signs go up, but when the Conservatives put theirs up right beside the Liberal signs. So who is working the criminal activity this time is the question. And for the Canadian public, it looks like the Conservatives are doing it.

Last campaign in 2006, I caught a woman in her 20s kicking down the sign on my lawn. I asked her if she thought it was a legitimate form of political expression. She replied with anger and vigor:

    HER:
"Stephen Harper is EVIL. How can you support a man who wants to take away a woman's right to choose? He's a fascist!"

    ME:
"Really, because there was another political group back in the late 30's who would employ tactics like vandalizing opposition campaign material... I wonder what political label would be attributed to THEM?"

Hm, did Garth hear of something called Hurricane Ike?

Yesterday a bunch of our signs went down because of the wind, that's what happens when you know, hurricanes happen.

I think Mr. Turner simply needs a better sign maker. I mean, what is the same in both situations? Hummm? It seems to be that they are Mr. Turners' signs. That would make me think that he needs to look into the quality of his signs, or as mentioned earlier, hammer them in better.
