Prime Minister Harper and Premier McGuinty announce three new federal-provincial initiatives
27 March 2008
Ottawa, Ontario
Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty today announced three important initiatives that will support provincial programs that provide assistance for workers and communities who have been negatively affected by the rapid appreciation in the Canadian dollar, softening in the US economy, high oil prices, and intense competition from emerging economies, as well as support for public transit and policing.

This is right out of Kinsella's book. The leader stays nice and diplomatic and the attack dogs do the sparring.

But of course this is part of the initiative announced by the Government a while ago.
All Ontario had to do was apply for it.

Good point, Lee. The municipalities were telling the Feds to 'step up to the plate' while the Province held the magic key all along.
This 'attack' story works both ways.

Not 100% sure here, but where Haper and McGuinty physically together when this was announced?
If so, what a humbling blow to them!
Amazing P.R.
The liberal "bastion" is crumbling, thats what you get when you build your fortress from pizza boxes...........it eventually rains.........or in our "global warming" case, it snows, causing a slow collapse.

Damage control or what - really, Harper knows his dirty tactics backfired - Ontarions are angry (he needs their votes) and other provinces are disgusted (except Alberta I guess).
Harper is a jerk.
