Techie Post: Fragmented Drive

This one's a post for all you techie types... this has got to be the most fragmented hard drive I've ever seen! Ever seen one this bad?

    Did you check the report to see the percent of fragmentation? My C drive is currently 14% Total Fragmentation, 25% file fragmentation and 3% free space fragmentation. The Analysis display has more blue than red, although I have 15% drive space free. Most of your fragmentation must be in free space.

    And yes, I have seen some that were pretty much red. Disgusting isn't it?

    The drive that I saw that was that bad did not have enough free space to do a defrag. At least the system on which your boss was working had 67% free space. It should not take too long to defrag 12 gig.

    I just checked a few systems out of curiosity, but they are all doing fairly well mostly due to large amounts of free space.

    Thanks for sharing the pic though. I had a good laugh.

    I'll have to see I I can find the screen cap of my friends computer with 162 viruses. Two teenage kids and three years on the internet with no working anti-virus software.

    You never know pain until you've tried to defrag a 300 gig hard drive that has been in use near-constantly for two years and never been formatted. I think it took most of a day to accomplish...
