Scott Reid... a voice rises from the grave

Just when you thought it was safe... the voice of Paul Martin's Scott Reid has risen from the ashes of their Jan. 23 loss... in an article in today's Toronto Star. It's title? "Five priorities for the Liberal party", and it contains his "blueprint" for the Liberals return to power in Ottawa.

A good sub-title? "Forget about 'renewal'... it's all about winning power back!!!" And it pretty much goes against every suggestion that Warren Kinsella has made thus for the federal Liberals.

My take? I really, REALLY, hope they listen to good old Scotty-boy... he helped them lose once... why not let him help them lose again and again and again!!!

WARNING - The previous post has been a purely partisan one... no Liberals or lefties were harmed in the creation of this post... at least I don't think I hurt any...

Scott Reid has clearly not learned anything, and is typical of the old guard Liberal - Winning at any cost.

I think he is in power-withdrawal.

Wow. I don't see anything different in there from the standard Liberal "lie and pander" strategy that people saw through last time. I have to agree with you that this will not help the Libs. The more they scream "Harper = Bush = Hitler" and pander to Quebec and the big cities, the more they simply alienate the rest of the country. I don't think the 905 will even stay on-side much longer if the party maintains that type of directionless and petty strategy.

There's a lot of truth in this, Andrew: you don't hurt anybody. If you're going to want to hurt people, you're going to have to learn to take the gloves off and put some ooomph in your punches. Scott Reid? Nobody knows nor cares who he is outside political junkies. Attack meaningful people like Graham and craft some vicious zingers that leave no room for rebuttal. And if you are going to attack Scott Reid, at least tear him apart. This is a glancing blow, at best.

Softness, Andrew, is for the losers in politics. If you want to be an MP, you need to learn how to grab people by the throat and choke their political careers out.

"Harper recognizes that you only get one chance to make a first impression. So far, conventional wisdom has ruled favourably; he is confident and composed, more at ease in the role of prime minister

Liberals must construct a competing and less flattering definition of Harper"

Translation: Another fear and smear campaign on the horizon. According to Reid's own admission Harper is doing well, so his advice to the Liberal party is to "construct a less flattering" image of Harper. So what are we talking about? Lieing?

"The Liberal party lost the last election because its base in Quebec had become too narrow"

And here I thought, flagrant corruption and gross incompetance had something to do with it.

"the voting base of allophones and new Canadians must be re-radicalized and given a reason to believe in the Liberals"

Translation: Pandering and vote buying are the key. Divide Canadians along ethnic lines, invent a different Canada for each ethnic group. Who cares about cultural/national unity push multiculti for no other reason then the advancement of personal power.

"The Conservatives are going to come dangerously close to tipping this country back into deficit as they abandon prudent budgeting practices"

    Translation:
Over taxation($63 billion) = prudent budgeting practices. Ok Stevie

"If the Liberal party can anchor its appeal with a majority of urban and suburban Canadians, then it will win every election from now to the Rapture"

This just is Scott Reid Religious Fundamentalist says Liberal win will bring about the Rapture.

OK the last part was a joke, but you know its a word Stockwell day could never use.

The reapperance of Scott Reid as a face of the Liberal party is truly confusing. And proof positive that the Liberal have learned nothing from their loss.

He is one of the main reasons they lost the election. He is completly out of touch with Canadian voters. He's arrogant, mean spirited, glib and dishonest. Basically he's a perfect Liberal. If I could prove he was corrupt then I'd say we a new front runner for the Liberal leadership.
