Rolling Stone Mocks Christ... TIME TO RIOT!!!
The Rolling Stone just put out a cover with Kayne West impersonating The Lord Jesus Christ... BLASPHEMY!!! Let's burn down their offices! Kill their editors! Protest in the streets until the world takes notice! Naaah...
WWJD? (What Would Jesus Do?) Instead, let's turn the other cheek. Go ahead, mock our Lord and Saviour... it's not us you are offending, but the Most High God Himself. Besides, we know that The Lord Himself will deal with them, in His own good time.
Our only responsibility, as Christians, is to proclaim the Good News of salvation, that can only be found in the shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary so many years ago. He died that you might live.
To the editor's of the Rolling Stone, you should know better. With worldwide riots going on over this sort of thing, I have one question for you... what were you thinking?
However, we would like thank you for once again proving our point... OF THE HYPOCRISY OF THE MEDIA. You have no problem mocking the Lord Jesus Christ, yet, I highly doubt you'd dare to publish the cartoons causing the riots. (nor do I suggest you do publish them... I'm just pointing out your hypocrisy) Once again, Christianity is fair game, but Islam... the lefty media has taken the position of "not wanting to offend".
Hypocrits.

To be fair, Rolling Stone might actually print the Muslim cartoons if they didn't have to worry about their offices being burned down. :)
And a few hundred years ago they would have been burned at the stake for printing the Kanye picture. When (if?) Islam evolves to the point that Christianity has finally evolved to then I suspect that RS will print "blasphemous" images about the prophet as well.

Preacher...Kinsella is getting a licking on SDA's site...Like I mentioned before, I was offended when Kinsella mocked me and Stockwell Day, and others for believing the geological evidence of a young earth and historical evidence of the Genesis record(6 days of Creation) I can 'tolerate' his 'opinion'.But he seems to forget that what he did was use MSM to offend us.Western Standard was reporting the news.VF

Is this the current issue? if so, why are we (as Christians) not writing letters to Indigo and other bookstores requesting this issue not be available, similar to the Western Standard? after all, I am surely insulted (and the Bible says expect to be insulted, not to just take it for fun)

I personally, as a conservative evangelical, find nothing objectionable about this portrayal of Kanye West. I mean, it's not meant to demean Jesus, it's just finding some parallel in the passion of Jesus to this stage of Kanye West's career. I find no more compunction to burn a building down than I normally have, although, to be fair, I wouldn't mind setting something on fire right about now.

Anonymous, I am more than familiar with the Jihad Watch website. My point was simply that Christians used to be pretty brutal as well, Inquisition anyone? (Comments about whether Catholics are actually Christians will be ignored by me as I see them as just as "Christian" as Protestants, they're both just as wrong as the other just as often.)

I don't know who Kanye West is, but depictions and human personifications of christ have never been deemed blasphemous by christian churches. Nobody would have been 'burned at the stake' for such a thing. During the middle ages most Saints were characterized by their similarities to Jesus.
However, the blasphemy arises when the character is changed. For example, Jesus has been portrayed by actors, often homosexual actors for decades in hollywood films, and nobody cared, in fact most christians prized them. Ben Hur comes to mind.
However, remove the context and it changes. So for example we saw HUGE protests in the early eighties when Monty Python's "Life of Brian" came out. There, Jesus was only in the first scene and never said anything funny.
There were even bigger protests and even some cinema's burnt when Scorcese came out with "the last temptation of Christ", which showed a very human Jesus.
Obviously different religions have different ideas of blasphemy. As I read elsewhere, if a cartoon were to feature Jesus having gay sex, I guarantee you wouldnt' find it in any of the national media.

Good article. Thanks for writing it. I don't see how Blake doesn't find this article objectionable especially if they're comparing Kanye's career to Jesus' death. Jesus' sacrifice, not in vein, saved millions. The most important act during the earth's existence by our holy God is being likened to the less important end of a typical "superstar's" career. One might be able to allow themselves not to be offended by this mocking display, however, it should be objected against. This display of Christ won't be the last, and one day people will become desensitized to his act of salvation because of this propaganda. One day, how will we as evangelicals use our savior's death to describe one's salvation when every other "superstar" will bear the crown? When no one objects to something wrong, its the same thing as saying its right.

I don't think that's true. In many christian theologians the emphasis was to 'be like christ'. Many of the early church fathers SOUGHT persecution and were extremely happy at their deaths as it made them martyrs and close to god.
There are thousands of forms of christianity, but a very strong thread between many of them has been to emphasize the 'human' in Jesus and that Jesus is not the 'other' but within each of us. This is not blasphemy, however, I grant it's poor taste to equate an actors (?) struggle with that of Jesus. However, with the world as it is I find equally specious to hear parents and people praying for idiot things. I know a guy who has been fervently praying that God will get him a promotion. Yes, I 'm sure that's one of the creator's of the universe's overriding considerations.

anonymous - Kanye doesn't seek persecution he seeks fame. Prior to the Rolling Stones' publication, he was cocky enough to claim that he should be written into the Bible (Search for Kanye and Bible). This person of pride doesn't deserve the humble designation of a martyr either. Peter, one of Jesus' martyrs, asked to be crucified upside down because he was not worthy to die in the manner of his Savior. Remember in the book of Matthew 24:5, Jesus says, "For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many." This is not Kanye's words verbatim but suspiciously close.
Put yourself in the shoes of an influential pre-teen who knows very little of Christ's nature but is looking for direction. A youth that seeks a hero. What would you see in Kanye? Honor? Humility? Sacrificial leadership? If no one objects to Kanye's actions, the pre-teen won't question Kanye's authority because that's all the kid will know.

The author makes some fair points as well as
some offhanded remarks I'd avoid making
even in jest.
Before criticizing, it might be helpful to
get to know what this image is referencing.
I'm sure the article it'self would shed
some light on that depiction.
Having not read the article, I'd
imagine it's referring to Kayne's
sucessful album, one song being
"Jesus Walks" which I recall to
be respectful and not unbiblical.
