Great... NDP wants an election
Yep, it's true... the NDP are planning to bring down the House IMMEDIATELY... we WON'T stand for this being passed, and if push comes to shove, it may prove to be a confidence issue.
Canada, do YOU want an election, AGAIN? NDP, back off.

That article says "NDP to introduce national child-care bill when Parliament returns." Not sure what that has to do with an election.

Don't you love how they can say with a straight face that the Canada Health Act is a model for this sort of thing?

I know, it's ludicrous. Just because 62% of the population voted for parties that want a National Child Care program Olivia thinks she should try and stop the other 36% of the country from imposing their will on the rest of us.
How dare she represent her constituents! How dare she fight for the things the people who elected her want her to fight for! Why doesn't she just cross the floor like a good little power-hungry robot?
The nerve of some people.
We all know the Canadian people don't want an election now. And we're only supposed to have elections when the people feel like it. Isn't that why we waited for the second Gomery Report to come out before holding the last election? Because no one wanted an election in January.
Oh, wait....

Did you even read the article?
"Chow said the proposal by the NDP, which could hold the balance of power in the new minority Parliament, is the only way to guarantee a national system of quality care for children."
The "which could hold the balance of power in the new minority parliament" was added by the writer, not the NDP.

Of course, in Quebec (largely consisting of the bloc), people who do get daycare (largely those who need public care the least, which would be the same in the NDP program but I digress) will get their daycare for a buck a day. Less than the cost of a copy of the Gazette

The house can only be dissolved with a vote of non-confidence, which only occurs when a bill brought by the Government is defeated.

Who doesn't want another election? I bet the people in Vancouver-Kingsway would love to be going back to the polls today.

Check out Sara's work in 'Choice for Chidcare' on several blogrolls (sorry, I don't know how to link) She is very busy and we should be doing what we can to help her. I like that she is not sitting back waiting for the Conservative members to get this thru...she is very actively working to get the right info to NDP.VF

Just to clarify to everyone, what I'm saying is that if push comes to shove and the NDP tries to ram this through via a budget ammendment or a change to the Tories childcare bill, it may turn into a confidence issue... which, if the CPC lost, we'd be forced into an election.

or the conservatives could yeild and accept the NDP ammendment.
Do you remember the one about not bearing false witness?

I'm assuming he's referring to Emerson, who campaigned as a Liberal yet immediately jumped ship. But I could be wrong.
Harper said he opposed regulation the practice of floor-crossing, so it couldn't be him.
