RIP Jack Layton - 2011

My wife called me this morning to let me know of the passing of one of Canada's great politicians... Jack Layton.
While I may have disagreed with many of his positions, no one could ever doubt the sincerity of what he believed. His voice was a clear and articulate one for the left, and the loss of his voice is a loss for all of us in this great nation.

My thoughts are with his family today. RIP, Smiling Jack.

Very well said! I think it's a sad day for all Canadians, regardless of politics

Thanks for the acknowledgement, from a Christian redeemed by the shed blood of the risen and eternal Lord Jesus Christ, who is a lefty :)

Many will remember Layton when, as a Toronto City Councillor, he stood among the crowd who mocked and physically abused pro-life activists who peacefully witnessed to the dignity of all human life before Morgentaler’s Toronto abortuary in October 1988. He urged the police to arrest the pro-lifers and complained that they had not already done so before he got there. At that time, smiling Jack forgot to smile for the TV cameras.

All this nonsense I've been reading elsewhere about how God should have mercy on his soul is nauseating. No, God will NOT have mercy on Jack Layton. He was pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-euthanasia, pro-big union and a staunch Marxist. He supported every loony toon cause in the land just for votes. Do not pray for him, he is now lost forever.

Read your Bibles! Layton is now in that place of outer darkness, where there is the deafening sound of weeping and gnashing of teeth of countless lost souls like him. He will now have to contemplate the coming judgement, where he will be resurrected to stand before the Judgement Seat of Christ. No lawyer, no politician, no king, no Pope, and no “human rights” laws will save him. His ultimate destination is the lake of fire, which is the second death (Revelation 21:8).

He was an evil man who supported evil, anti-Christian causes. He did nothing for Canada and sent himself to hell. He lived on our dime and he was buried on our dime. Goodbye Jack. Now you know just how wrong you really were.

In answer to the question if Jack Layton had any interest in Christianity, I have it from a local Christian Radio host, that Jack, indeed, referred to himself as a 'Born Again Christian'! I may have disagreed with some of his theology, but ALL of us are wrong somewhere, right? It is comforting to know that Jack is with his Saviour and that someday we will meet!

    OldBaldGuy... I hope you're right!

Anon@6:23... You know that, and I know that, but I didn't bother posting that because I didn't think it would actually REACH anyone for our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ... I thought it would only cause them to gnash their teeth at us.

Could any of you point me to newspaper articles about Jack Layton doing these things in 1988? If so, I'd be much obliged. And I suspect it's easier to simply ask you(s) what you(s) have in mind rather than trying to search for it (and likely) find something you don't actually have in mind...

I see Anon@623(Bill Gibbons) saying that I should read my bible. And... I agree. And... I'm working on it. And have been for years. And will continue for years. Thus far I have never come across anything in the Bible that makes reference to Jack Layton being in "that place of outer darkness." I haven't seen anything saying "Jack Layton". Though perhaps something was lost in translation. Given the tone of your post, Anon@623, I almost expect you to say that the number 666=JackLayton.

    But I digress.

Here is some footage of Layton talking about his involvement with the church.

I admit, he is a politician (and a human being) and so he may or may not be honest here. I'm more likely to suspect that he is being honest. And we should keep in mind that the NDP has a long history of religious involvement. Tommy Douglas was a baptist minister, for example. And though he's a good example, he is not the only example of a Christian who supported the NDP for Christian reasons. It might even be the case that ONLY Christian reasons can solidly ground a vote for a "leftist" party. (I of course hope that there are many more reasons out there, but I acknowledge the possibility).

Anon1152 - Layton supported homosexuality, abortion and euthanasia. Hardly "Christian" causes are they?

See the following YouTube link regarding his support for abortion.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjAARuT1WTk

Layton attended gay pride events in Toronto and uttered not a word about the shameless displays of nudity and sadomasochism on the street. He also choose an openly homosexual "minister" Brent Hawkes (who shares the marriage bed with his sodomite lover), to officiate at his funeral.

No, Layton was not a Christian by any stretch of the imagination. Unless he called out to Jesus Christ, the only true Redeemer for forgiveness of his sins before he died, he is now lost for eternity.
