I do take issue with the Bev Oda CIDA decision

Please insert a "NOT" between "do" and "take" in the above title, and then read this well thought out post from a former Liberal staffer.

What party of no more funding left advocacy groups don't your understand?

In big bold RED permanent marker.

A picture of a gravy boat being destroyed would do nicely.

I wished Bev had been more critical of her department for pushing the Kairos funding forward.

I expect memo(s) going forward will have a spot to mark her rejection.

Is it just me or does this whole Oda attack seem like an orchestrated fabrication? From all that I have read, there is no doubt that what she says was very well understood by all involved at time time of her signing off on it. If I can find and read transcripts of the principals absolving her of any wrong doing, why is this still going on?

If the Liberals did this, every Conservative in the country would be up screaming, feigning outrage.

So essentially, you have no problem with a minister in the government:

    A) cutting off funding for purely political reasons?
    B) doctoring a signed document?
    C) lying about it?

    Right then.

    A) No problem, it's the Government of the days call
    B) She modified the document, and then SENT IT BACK TO THE SENDERS INFORMING THEM OF HER REJECTION OF THE FUNDING... so again, no issue
    C) She answered the question she was asked... "Do you know who inserted the 'NOT'?" She did not know WHOM amongst her staff did it, so I fail to see the "lie" in her response.

Consider this me being gracious, actually taking the time to refute your Liberal issued Talking Points, instead of just ignoring your trolling.

    CC.

I understand for many Liberal-progressive apologists it has been a very rough time watching their ideology under attack in Canada for the last five years.

They were spoon-fed the "social justice" talking points since the 1970's. The deprogramming will take longer.

We are witnessing the push back of entitlements and loss of the gravy train for special interest groups on the taxpayer teat.

The outrage and flailing on our blogs should be expected.

Bev Oda could have handled this better and fired those who have ignored the direction of this government for direct aid vs advocacy.

The MSM and the opposition are trying to push another fake scandal, it's what they do.

Is it acknowledged that she did advise the other signatories of the change?
I think any modifications should be initialed and even dated, but if the other signatories admit they were advised, she passes the test from my point of view.

Actually, CIDA President Margaret Biggs testified in Committee on December 9, 2010 that Minister Oda had, in fact, informed them of the decision to not fund KAIROS, and that the insertion of the "NOT" is standard practice to illustrate the Minister's final decision in the negative.

Something that is very important to keep in mind that the Liberals seem to be conveniently fogetting: this was an INTERNAL memo (not for public consumption) so there is no way for it to be misinterpretted as a hijacking of the buraeucrats "support" - unless of course you're a Liberal MP that's desperate to see a scandal created out of nothing.
