Liberals GOOF with response attack ads, will only HELP Harper and the CPC

I'd like to take a moment to thank the Liberal Party of Canada for putting together their latest ads... ads which will HELP the Conservative Party of Canada!

I'm so tickled by them, I'm even posting one of them here... take a look and see if you can see what I see...

Do you see it? Thought you might... but just in case you didn't, I'd like to once again thank the Liberal Party of Canada FOR CLEARLY REMINDING CANADIANS THAT HARPER IS INDEED IN CHARGE, AND REINFORCING HIS "STRONG LEADER" CREDENTIALS TO THE CANADIAN PUBLIC!!!

Did you guys SERIOUSLY think that this would actually HURT the Prime Minister? You've reminded Canadians that he's a strong leader... and unintentionally reminded Canadians that you've got a big DOOFUS running your Party!!!

Canadians are NOT stupid... they'll make the connection. And by simply running our ads again, or with a couple new ones, that point will be CLEARLY drilled home. Yes, your ads will appeal to the Harper haters, but WON'T have the desired effect on the fence sitters... ones who've been warming to Harper over the last five years.

Perhaps "warming to Harper" isn't quite it... I'd say they're more likely RUNNING AWAY IN DISGUST from the guys you keep putting in the "Leaders" chair.

Plus one final detail... fighter jets ARE COOL. And I LOVE the sound effects you've put to the ad... the sound of roaring fighter jets is only going to lock up for us the votes of every military related family from coast to coast!

I tried to post this to their Youtube video, but it's "Comment Pending Approval". I guess they can't show any dissention.

Thank you Liberals, for these ads. They will HELP the Conservatives win the next election. Remember the time a previous Conservative government was going to buy replacements for the Sea King helicopters ?. Chretien cancelled that as soon as he was in office, incurring a penalty of $500 million on a $5 billion contract. Where are those helicopters now ?. Surely, one of the Liberal governemts after that could have gotten the helicopters, couldn't they have ?.

He looks good in that jet. I know it is a photoshop but that image shows a leader, not a wimp like Ignatiaff. His photos of him skating show how desperate he is. It just screams "See, I can skate, so I must be a Canadian! Please like me!"

Liberals seem to think Canadians want to short change our military again like the Martin/Chretien governments did in the 1990's. Actual Canadians want what is best for our military.

Yes, the fighter jet ad makes one think of Arctic Soveriengty,
    and PMSH owns that issue.

I remember Bill Graham (3 Liberal leaders ago) gaffawing in the House (2006) when PMSH first introduced the CPC Arctic Soveriengty plan ,
Graham saying 'the Russians aren't coming' to invade our North.

The CPC could run a counter ad,
the British subs Chretien bought 12 years ago,
and today only one is running.
We need no lectures from Liberals on military purchases.

Being a "strong leader" has no bearing on whether someone is a good leader (or even a good person). There have been plenty of strong leaders throughout history we would not want in Parliament (the most obvious I could mention would, of course, invoke Godwin's Law).

I wouldn't be so smug if I were you, the general consensus among Canadians is that Harper has accomplished very little in 5 years. Not good considering the massive debt he's created.

Despite a fairly weak showing from the Liberals so far, I think come election time, Harper is in for the fight of his life.

How would you rate Stephen Harper as Prime Minister?

    61% Not worthy of office

"Plus one final detail... fighter jets ARE COOL."

I think the message of the ad, or at least the message that the liberals should emphasize from a self-interest point of view, is that the fighter jets are being purchased without a competitive bidding process. Which suggests that the "conservatives" have abandoned their alleged "free market" approach to things. Which would [only really] be an effective message if it is linked to other instances where Harper et al have abandoned their principles.

For the record: I'm not against the jets per se. Though I'm not sure they are the best ones we could have. One argument I find convincing is that the CF18s have two engines, and the F35s have only one... I'm a cautious person by nature. If one engine fails, I'd like to have another to rely on... But I digress. My point is that the opposition parties should emphasize the process, not the purchase per se.

    PS
"Fighter jets are COOL"???? Yes. Sure. But the job of the Prime Minister is not to "buy cool things" for us. That's the job of... Santa Claus. I'm reminded of a statement of Pierre Trudeau: the federal government is not Santa Claus. (I'm not saying that that didn't stop him from trying, but I think that the statement itself is true. The federal government is not Santa Claus. Harper gave us a similar sentence that I agree with 100%: "the Dali Lama is not a call girl".

    PPS
I've heard that China recently built a stealth fighter... maybe we could buy our fighters from China... along with everything else...

Anon 6:22: So the general consensus among Canadians is that PMSH has accomplished very little. And just WHERE did you come up with that tidbit of information ?.

Anon 6:26: 66% of respondents rated PMSH as not worthy of office. Yeah, right. That poll was on the Globe & Fail. Such a bastion of Conservatism, that newspaper is. /sarcasm
