New Wheels
It's time... the ol' Golf just rolled over 300,000kms, and is 11 years old... though still running like a top. Finally at the point where we need a second car too.
Bought a 2005 Vibe, nicely loaded... we wanted a Toyota Matrix, and were ready to put down a deposit on one earlier today, but then came across this one... higher kms, way more features (including cruise and a roof rack, which were two key features for us), for about $2000 LESS than the Matrix. Plus, now Buzz and his crew can't accuse me buying foreign anymore.
As you were.

Vibe and Matrix , same car just the guy at the end of the assemmbly line has a different stamp. One Toyota, one Pontiac.
Nice to use the Anti-american depreciation work for you, however. $2000 big ones in your pocket. I love that ride btw. Very space and gas efficient. Is it the AWD?
Didn't know Golfs were capable of 300,000k without serious upkeep. I have always wanted a VW but was scared away by the reliability. Congrats.

Amm, yea... by the way, I still walk to work, just will be using my car for my part-time computer consulting business, and occasional trips when my wife is busy.
Oh, did I mention she's self employed too? Often has singing engagements out of town... kinda cramps my ability to conduct my business, which is all over town, on and off bus routes, without access to wheels when the customer want's help.
You know... just doing my part to keep the economy moving.
If we lived in TO, it would be way easier... but, we don't.

You should move back. It would be nice to see you a little more often. :)

Isn't the Matrix/Vibe made in Cambridge, ON? So while you could be accused of not buying union if you bought a Matrix, you couldn't be accused of buying a foreign made car.

The Matrix is built in Cambridge, but the Vibe is built in a union plant down in California.
However, I have no issues buying it because it's a NUMMI plant, a joint manufacturing initive between GM and Toyota. They build the Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Tacoma, and Carollas for the US market.

Demo-whos? Did something important happen today? Humm, don't think anything of any importance happened... oh, something about that also-ran Edwards guy?
(I saw that first thing this morning, but you're right... it didn't warrant a posting) ;-)
Something big is about to happen though... Gulliani expected to drop out and endorse McCain... which pretty much wraps up the GOP nomination. (unless, of course, Huckabee does something unthinkable and throws his weight behind Romney... but that ain't likely)
