Ontario Liberal MPP jumps ship
Even Liberals know that Dalton is in trouble in the next election... and this guy is of the Peterson Liberal pedigree! Liberal MPP Tim Peterson is leaving the Liberal caucus to sit as an Independant until October... at which time he will run for John Tory's Tories.
I'm curious to see how Warren spins this one... ;-)

I'm also curious as to how our other Liberal friends (hello Jason Cherniak) spin this one.

They are blaming personal ambition, and bitterness at being bypassed for cabinet. Dick Patten isn't running again in Ottawa Centre, and basically it's the same reason -- not getting the love in terms of a cabinet role. It's funny how some leaders are able to make everyone in caucus feel appreciated, and others have, well, a bit of a communications and charisma problem. Dalton doesn't inspire a lot of love and loyalty amongst his caucus, and this is a fairly clear example. Think about it -- the Ontario Liberals are five points ahead, and people are jumping ship? What happens if they fall a couple points behind?

Just got this in my in box:
PC Party Supporter,
Today, MPP Tim Peterson announced that he will run for the PC Party in the next election. The MPP is leaving the Liberal Caucus to sit as an independent for the duration of the current legislative session.
"John Tory is a natural leader. A leader who is not afraid to bring together the best and the brightest minds in Ontario to help manage Ontario’s $90 billion budget. He is one of the best and brightest," said Peterson.
Peterson cited disagreements with Dalton McGuinty over energy policy and fair share funding for Peel Region and Mississauga in the difficult decision.
