Get ready for a summer election

I almost dare the Opposition to send Canadians to the polls again, for the fourth time in five years... because based on what I'm hearing from the regular folks on the ground, the party that sends us to the polls again is gonna get punished pretty hard.

Bring it on Iggy & Co., bring it on.

    What will Libs run on?
The $3B Emergency Fund foils Libs attack on 'they didn't get any money out' for the June 'report card'.
Iffy is up against and experienced government, PMSH will be able to foresee any tarpit the Libs think they can trap him in.

Iffy's carbon tax will have to go on hold for a better time to attack the West, like after we recover and have some cash they can steal.

There is no money in the pot for any new social program.
There is no burning social issue for them to get behind.

The Obama visit and subsequent interviews proves PMSH and his government to be competent, and sensible.
The hope and change mood has been replaced action and recovery.
An experienced Conservative cabinet with a leader of 20 years service to Canada
vs. a rookie tourist and a rookie front bench (save 3 or 4 MPs) is a non-starter for the Libs.

Money aside, Libs have yet to have a policy conference after years in opposition, they still have an identity problem.
They are still latching onto other party's ideas, confused at who they are and what they stand for.

What makes Libs different from the Conservatives?
The only thing I can think of is their willingness to put Dippers into cabinet.

They're probably hoping for a postive media bounce from their "Leadership" & Policy convention in May, but who knows, that could flop due to Iggy's coup/coronation and the grassroots resentment it fosters.

A nice blowup there would put any election speculation on hold until 2010.

I have been saying that it will be June or december. June if they get a bounce from the convention. they will manufacture some problem in conjunction with the June budget report. December if they don't get the bounce. iggy has already said that he won't be voting for another conservative budget.

What about the star power that Iggy seems to hold within the party at the regular level? The fact is that some people can’t seem to see past the Harper Hate, no matter what the PM does. I can’t tell you how many Liberals I talked to last election that said if it was Iggy as opposed to Dion, they’d have voted Iggy.

Well now they got what they wanted, a stronger leader. They see that he’s not Dion. It is kind of the lesser of two evils idea. Canadians seem to like that. “Well, he’s not great, but he’s not Dion, so that must be a plus.” Mainstream Liberal supporters, a lot anyway don’t look that deep into policy to make a decision. It’s all about face value.

Just for the record, I as a Liberal am not willing to go to another election. Not because I'm afraid of you guys, just that I've got way more important things to do than spend several days a month calling people I don't know and knocking on doors of random people's houses.

I'm planning on saving energy for that kind of stuff in the next year or two
