Fearmongering from the President of the YLCBC
Just who is Braeden Caley? Well, he's the President of the Executive for the Young Liberals of Canada in British Columbia, and a BC representative on the Young Liberals of Canada's National Executive. He's also the apparent author (or at least the YouTube host) for this recent fearmongering video from the Liberals:
So, here's the question... since he's a significant insider on the YLC National Executive, does that mean they condone these sort of "Fear and Smear" tactics?
Of course, we all knew they'd pull out the "Fear" card in this election. h/t to unhappy Liberal supporter Red Tory on the video clip.
UPDATE: It looks like this isn't the first time this young man has been involved in controversy.
UPDATE II: Oops... looks like he's also the official spokesperson for Liberal MP Raymond Chan's campaign in Richmond, BC.
So, I guess the bigger question is, Mr. Chan, do you condone the fear-mongering tactics of your chief spokesperson?

How can you "eliminate" something that did not exist - Kelowna Accord and universal daycare?
Never implemented, just an election promise.

I guess the question is, are the statements in the video correct? If so, I don't see any more of a problem with this ad than I do with those dreadful "You always pay more with Dion" slot machine ads I'm constantly having to mute.
Anyway, a majority conservative government of any sort does scare me, even without this ad, as conservatism in general makes me extremely nervous since the whole basis of conservatism seems to be about unnecessarily restricting freedom.

Heretic ... I have to ask you what have you been smoking???
Conservatives don't stand for restricting freedom... they stand for less is more...
Less Gov't involvement is more money in your paycheck because it means less people with their hands in the cookie jar.
fewer civil servants telling you how to raise or in the day care instance actually raising your kids.
The Left has taken a really interesting approach to family's and the experiment failed... We can no longer afford them within their model of thinking and it's better to abort and import then to sustain your population from within... Liberal gov't under PET in the 70's discovered people tend to vote for the gov't in power when they arrive in a country then vote against them in the subsiquent elections after they become citizens. But that's a whole other conversation...
Back on topic, Liberals and NDP would have everyone believe they believe in family...With the NDP where the true loyalty lies is with Unions, not family's, and protectionism. Conservatives believe in capitalism where you succeed or fail on your own effort. If you can afford to have a big family and want to please do. What Liberals believe in is what amounts to a free ride systems and public opinion where everyone gets a say and pitches in to leave no one behind and the average plan is maintained.
Each system has inherant difficulties.
Conservative system means that if you work hard the money you earn you get to keep more of it. You advance to your means and if you can afford more you get more.. If you on the other hand, sit and wait for a hand out, with no real intent on self initiative or motivation you'll be waiting a long while.
The NDP or No Damn Plan Party are pro union... Unions are great if you work for an employer who wants to exploit you, but the down side is(example Air Canada) you can and will build up "dead wood" staff. Those that do nothing all day but go from smoking area to tv lounge to smoking area and because of seniority you can never get rid of them...
segway... I actually know of an instance where an Air Canada employee was caught placing internation calls on the company line and dime to the tune of $1100 a month for almost a year before getting caught... in a private business that person would be out on their @$$ before the door finished swinging shut but in a union she's appealed and has her job back...great system...NOT! The other problem with this is why would anyone internationally invest in a high costing labour force today when India, China, Africa, South America, and Mexico are all offering cheap labour and no unions...unions that form picket lines, strike over wage increases annually (watch BC and the translink workers in 2009 as 2010 approaches not to mention the sanatation and parks boards)
Fortunately for all of Canada the reality is the NDP party have little chance of reaching any real position of power fedrally.
The most problematic party approach and most exploited is by the Liberal system... you get all the free loading people the hard workers get to foot the bill for... but you also get the people who are what I refer to as the "ivory tower crew" who have lived in privlage and don't begin to understand the everyday pains of a solid work ethic of working hard to earn your money...they view tax money as their god given right and they have the right to spend on what they believe is best for you... never mind what you think you need... they know best... they really like the bandaid approach although they're constantly talking about getting to the root causes... They're like the manufacturers of cold remadies...they'll never cure the common cold because there's no money in a cure...but you come up with a remadey and you can sell it every cold season til the cows come home and people will have no choice but to buy it...

MrEd, everything you brought up was related to money which is the least of my concerns since I keep my expenses so low I could live off minimum wage if I needed to thanks to frugal living. I'm referring more to every other part of life. In my experience, conservatism in general is about making sure everyone follow their morals, particularly when it comes to sex (drugs being another common example). If many conservatives I know had their way premarital sex would not be allowed, porn would be illegal, gay marriage would not exist (in fact gay people themselves would not exist, or at least would be forced back into the closet, if not into prison), swinging and polyamory would be outlawed, etc., etc., etc.

Better Yet, I wonder if the video's production costs will be properly charged to his candidate's campaign.

Heretic, have you read 1984? State-run daycare... Great idea, as long as you want kids who only think one way.
And the universal child care that this video mentions never existed. It was a proposal that never hit reality.
