Like I said...

...this is not a good thing going into a debate. I'm no expert, but a tell all book about another scandal isn't going to go over too well with the voters when your #1 rival is skyrocketing in the polls.

Again, look for a sleepless/tired Martin to make a mental gaffe that will be splashed across the front pages tomorrow.

    Normand Lester and Robin Philpot allege that Option Canada received $5 million from the federal government and about $3.5 million of that money was illegally spent by the No side, bypassing Quebec's spending laws for the referendum.

    Spending limits for both the Yes and No committees were set at $5 million each.

    Lester also says Prime Minister Paul Martin, who was then finance minister, must have been aware of Option Canada and its spending.

    He and Philpot also say that cabinet ministers Liza Frulla and Lucienne Robillard were also aware of Option Canada, as was Claude Dauphin, former president of Option Canada and a former Martin adviser.
