Frank paid the tab, right OLY?

Looks like the by-election is in full swing in Guelph... the Ontario Young Liberals arranged to bus in about 20 youth from Toronto and surrounding areas, in order to drop flyers for Liberal candidate Frank Valeriote. (read all about it here, here, and here)

Just want to point out one thing, however, in regards to the Elections Act... I assume that Frank is picking up the tab for the bus, the food, and any other costs involved with this event, right guys and gals? Otherwise, that's considered an "illegal contribution".

You see, although the OYL arranged for the trip to Guelph for these kids, the OYL isn't allowed to incur these costs on Frank's behalf during the writ period. Therefore, if OYL is the one who picked up the tab, it's considered an illegal donation... because an expense of this nature is supposed to be charged to the campaign, and goes against their spending cap.

Can Frank's team produce the receipts and assure the people of Guelph that they're not engaging in any financial funny business?

    Thanks for the questions. Rest assured that our CFO and the Campaign will abide by all of the requirements set out by Elections Canada and our filing will indicate costs incurred.

    Wow, is this what it's come to? Toronto exporting its liberalism to Guelph? Can't it develop its own support localy.

    Its like a sterile donkey of something, liberalism is devoid of bearing any fruit.

    don't you have a campaign to run? if you keep spending your time on petty things like this i don't think the liberals have anything to worry about.

    the liberals get volunteers, while the tories have to bring in hired help. hmm... i wonder who's going to win this one...

    Anon@1:22, who said anything about hired help? The CPC kids were volunteers too. And me, running a campaign? That's a laugh... though I will likely volunteer a bit since it's so close.

    Anon@12:39, I wasn't picking on the kids, I was keeping the adults in check.

    Again, how much a candidate spends is none of My BUSINESS!!

    This by-election is about 4 qualified individuals running for
    MP.

    Let's talk about qualifications and experience, not MONEY!!!!!!!

    ??? Where on earth did you get that idea "anonymous", the Guelph Liberals? From what I saw firsthand when I was in the Guelph CPC's office, it looks like the campaign is totally locally staffed and controlled... the "being run by the PMO" is a rumour started by the Guelph Liberals. (once again, the Liberals have nothing to run on but fear, lies, and rumour... it's kinda sad, really)

    LOL, just checked my stats... so "anonymous", now I know where you got that idea from... since you're one of the UoG's Young Liberals in the photo!

    Seriously, you guys on Frank's team in Guelph need to stop lying with that rumour about the PMO running the Guelph CPC campaign... because it's not true. Go head, show up at their office and take a look for yourself!

    But hey, don't listen to me, go right on ahead and keep on using it, becuase it will just help to expose the fact that you guys on Frank's team are nothing but liars!
